The volume of the Proceedings of the Conference "Public Health and Social Policy: Eleftherios Venizelos and his era" aims to explore the development issues of public health and social policy, as well as to highlight the importance and meaning that arise from the institutions and choices made in the early twentieth century. During this particularly critical period, the governments of Eleftherios Venizelos were called upon to provide solutions and address the issues of state modernization and reorganization of public health, and to lay the foundations for the development of health services, social welfare services, and social insurance.

Issues such as the welfare state and social insurance, infrastructure networks, and public health in Greece and Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as policies and institutional measures for working conditions and occupational pathology, are subjects of discussion and study in a broader context and are not limited exclusively to what happened in our country during the interwar period. Through comparative historical and social analysis of these issues, the course of establishment and development of health, welfare, and insurance policies is examined, while also providing further exploration of phenomena that have decisively contributed to subsequent developments in public health and social policy.
