Description
The Chicago School is one of the most important collective intellectual expressions of Sociology in its long history. In relation to the University of the same city with social problems (immigration, delinquency, urban space, ethnic relations, etc.), it constituted a rich research tradition which, from the beginning of the twentieth century until today, remains a source of reflective creation. The original and pioneering corpus of ideas of its main representatives, from Mead, Park, Veblen, and Thomas to Blumer and Hughes, and later Goffman and Becker, constitutes a model of empirically documented theoretical knowledge. The classic studies, which were written with methodological rigor, analytical depth, pragmatic interpretation, and social sensitivity to phenomena, became guides of humanistic orientation. This anthology for this School is therefore a necessary guide for every sociologist who continues the same path in our globalized "Chicago" of our time.
