Excellent in everything, but the remote control is extremely disappointing, as it is like a toy, small in size and functionality. Although it has many presets (~40) for digital radio and others, the remote control only has 6 presets without the ability to select any of the other presets using the next / previous buttons, I really wonder why!!! I did not encounter any issues with the Yamaha app on my mobile. I bought it for internet radio and I am very satisfied. I did not extensively test the other functions as they did not interest me.
In the price category, there is nothing similar, except for a network player and a DAC (with an optical input), as well as a preamplifier. It can actively drive speakers or a power amplifier (switchable at the back). It is well constructed, and its sound quality is quite good for its category, both as a player and through its digital input and Bluetooth. The Yamaha MusicCast application is very good, easy to use, and offers many conveniences, while any glitches are rare (but okay, what device doesn't have glitches on our network?). For someone who wants both a network player and a DAC at this price point, this is the only option. There are other network players in this category, but to have a digital input for another device, you would have to spend around 500-600 euros. The negative aspect is that the USB input for flash drives or even discs (it definitely reads discs with power supply as long as they are in FAT32 format, but discs with power supply from the USB... it's hit or miss, technically it's beyond the device's specifications, and the manual clearly states that) is not as fast as in more expensive players. However, the main function of these devices is to stream discs from NAS or computers on our network. The second negative aspect is the lack of a screen, so navigation is only possible through the application and a smartphone/tablet, although even players with screens are mostly operated in this way.
No matter how much I searched, there is no equivalent product on the market.
It is a multitool that will be appreciated by those who need all or almost all of its functions, otherwise it doesn't make sense to buy it.
Although it does many things, it is not exceptional in any specific area for the work it is intended to do.
Preamp and A/D converter. I can't say it's worth three times the money.
For the price as a whole, however, it is worth every euro.
Where it surprised me is in the interface area. Very easy to use, many options, whatever I thought of, I found in the functions.
The remote control is small, inconvenient, but it has immediate response. It could be better.
I had bought it second-hand and gave it away, but I regretted it and will buy it again
Truly does it all and is worth it. At this price, it has no rival!
It's worth the money
