Let's look at some flower ideas that we can plant in the fall and give us a blooming and colorful balcony.

Chrysanthemums

One of the most well-known flowers of autumn that dominates gardens and balconies. It is better to choose a clay pot with holes at its base to drain excess water when watering, and to prefer spots on your balcony with a western or eastern orientation. When transplanting it into a larger pot, you should choose general-purpose soil that ensures good drainage. 

Carnations

Another classic choice for the autumn season is our beloved perennial flowers. This is a plant that is resistant to cold but sensitive to excessive moisture, so you should plant it in a pot that provides water drainage. Ideally, choose soil with perlite and prefer spots with southern or western exposure.

Cyclamen

You can find it in a variety of colors and you need to ensure it is protected from wind and scorching sun. You will need relatively low pots, as cyclamen has a shallow root system and it is better to place it in spots with western or eastern orientation. 

Pansies

One of the favorite autumn flowers that can withstand even the beginnings of a mild winter. They are an excellent choice for planting in relatively low planters and in areas with a southern or western orientation. To ensure blooming for a longer period, a good practice is the application of fertilizers with nutrients.  

Lavender

Famous aromatic plant and resilient for our balconies, without high demands in terms of watering and fertilizing. However, you should choose pots with a height of at least 30 centimeters, as lavender has a strong root system. During its transplantation, prefer soil that contains compost to ensure better water circulation and thus be able to maintain it all year round.
