Quality & Editions
Initially, in terms of quality, they are all the same. There can always be small imperfections, but this happens when there is mass production of a product. This also makes each figure a bit more unique.
Apart from the regular editions, there are Chase editions that have differences in some characteristics: in the face, clothes, pose, or the objects the character holds. Another difference is that they are usually more expensive because they are limited editions. Generally speaking, the chances of randomly getting a Chase are 1:6.
Then, there are Glow in the Dark Chase editions that are the same but glow in the dark. There are also Flocked editions, which are somewhat fuzzy and soft to the touch.

Maintenance
This is a major decision for a new collector. They must choose whether to keep the figures inside or outside their boxes. Some pieces are too beautiful not to display outside their boxes, but there is a greater risk of something happening to the figure, such as falling from a height and breaking something. Additionally, when you remove something from its box, its resale value decreases. The maintenance itself is simple: a simple duster is needed to clean them.
Stickers
These are the stickers that are on the box. They are used to indicate the edition, the rarity of the figure, or the event where it was exclusively released, among other things. It is not something that I think should concern a new collector. First, they should find what they like and later focus on the stickers and other details.
Where to Start?
There is no specific place to start. There are thousands of Funko Pop! for many different tastes. The best advice I could give to a new collector is to find collections that they like, such as Funko Anime, Funko Star Wars, etc. It helps to have a more uniform, let's say, collection. If you just take whatever you find in front of you, at some point you will get bored and start clearing out your collection.
From anime, I would undoubtedly recommend the Demon Slayer series. It is, of course, also the largest part of my collection. The Star Wars series is a bit more difficult to collect because it is huge. I have a weakness for Funko The Mandalorian and all the Funko of Darth Vader. But again, this is a matter of personal taste. Everyone has to find what suits them. Someone might like Funko Pokémon, Marvel, or DC, for example.
