How many dietary indulgences did you make during the holiday season?
These days there are many festive gatherings, resulting in us deviating from our dietary routine and consuming more food. Something that is perfectly normal!
Certainly, one of the most difficult aspects of managing diet is indulgence.
Let's see 4 simple tips to manage them:
1) Don't worry. Your weight won't be affected if you have a larger meal.
2) Don't blame yourself. One indulgence doesn't negate what you have achieved so far.
3) Don't operate on an "all or nothing" mentality. The thought that I ruined my diet, so I might as well eat more, is not correct.
4) Truly enjoy your food. Eat what you want without guilt, but don't consume more food thinking that you'll get back to your dietary routine tomorrow.
Many people automatically associate this situation with a faulty eating pattern, indulge more than they would like, and become disappointed. I often hear the thought "I messed up now, so I'll continue my diet from tomorrow, from the new year," etc.
Having the right dietary behavior is something we should always have! Deviating from our program occasionally is perfectly normal and is part of the process.
The key is to continue and not let such situations make us forget the progress we have made so far.
No one gained weight because they ate more one day or lost weight because they ate less another day.
Recovery is important for our psychology (and of course, digestive health) and less about the "diet." We don't live in a cage, there are so many stimuli and circumstances around us that naturally we may "deviate," either in the quality of the food we choose or in its quantity.
With these practical tips, our recovery to our diet will be quick and ideally, we will avoid the anxiety caused by any "indulgences."
