Which book series is for you?
It is difficult for all of us to make the decision to start a series of books.
Sometimes you read the first one and get excited, other times it doesn't impress you but then you pick up the next one and get excited. Of course, there are also times when you keep reading but it doesn't go well from start to finish.
Let's take a look at some book series then, which for me are 10/10:
(1) Thorns & Roses by Sarah J. Maas, from Psychogios Publications
Here we see my top favorite series, which surprisingly I didn't like at first.
It was one of the first fantasy series I read, and I struggled at first because firstly it had crazy hype and it made me anxious, and also the first book disappointed me.
However, from the second one onwards, I got addicted. We're talking about a fantasy series with amazing world building, with tropes enemies to lovers and found family.
We have elves, we have strange creatures, we have love, battles, wars, plot twists, laughter, tears, everything. I love the characters and I really feel like I know them somehow.
I have become so attached to this series that whenever I think about it, I get borderline emotional! I would recommend it to fans of fantasy books but also to people who would like to read the genre as it is perfect for beginners.
(2) "The Sandman" by Lars Kepler, published by Patakis Editions
I present to you my second love, for fans of crime fiction and generally crime fiction. It is the series of the writing duo with detective Joona Linna, set in Sweden.
Scandinavia + Crime Fiction = The best combination as known.
Here we have 7 books [with the eighth coming out in 2024] that are all amazing. Clever plots that combine thorough investigation of complex cases with political, historical, and social elements. Very intense books, with short chapters, fast-paced plot, graphic images, and a detective that I have come to love.
I know that there are many books, but they are all worth it. I gave 5/5 stars to the first one, and they kept getting better as I read more. So if you want endless nights of reading, try Lars Kepler.
Note: It's better to read them in order!
(3) The Neapolitan Tetralogy by Elena Ferrante, from Patakis Publishing
Now let's go for those who love social novels. It is now known that Ferrante is top in literature, and I come to confirm that. From my personal point of view at least.
We have 4 books dedicated to the friendship of 2 girls, with the backdrop of poor Naples with its socio-political elements. You will find a detailed article dedicated to the series.
One of the most beautiful and addictive books I read in 2024, and I highly recommend them.
